About

I am a Senior Lecturer in quantity surveying and Construction Economics at the Faculty of Architecture Building and Planning, The University of Melbourne. I have a quantity surveying training from Diploma, through Bachelor to Master degree level and my PhD is in the area of construction project management. My experience over the last 12 years has been interplay of teaching, research and industry practice in quantity surveying and construction project management. Prior my present appointment, I was a PhD Research Scholar at the School of Design and Environment, National University of Singapore. My PhD research investigated the relationship between contractors' perception of fairness, conflict intensity and potential to dispute in the process for administering claims on project. My research made use of a combination of grounded theory approach, survey and Structural Equation Modeling technique with PLS-Graph 3.0 tool. I developed contract administration strategies and practices that can help project owners reduce their exposure to dispute with contractors.

I have international experience in teaching as well. While at the National University of Singapore, I tutored professional practice (construction), building measurement and construction management. Between 1996 and 2002 I had taught aspects of quantity surveying, including measurement of building and civil engineering works, tendering and estimating, building contracts, construction management and economics, and advanced cost control at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). At that time I was a member of a project monitoring team on a multi-million dollars World Bank assisted institutional project. I have published my research work in reputable international journals in construction engineering and management. I am an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in the UK and Australia.
