About

Brief Biographical Notes
Bernard Brown has spent a lifetime as a practicing professional architect in which he has created one or two interesting works. At the same time he has read casually and haphazardly in ethics, philosophy of the mind, cosmology and the novels of Iris Murdoch, Patrick White, Sartre, Camus, Philip Roth, Jeanette Winterson, Proust, Dostoevsky, and all the rest. In 2005 he abandoned these dilettantish practices and became a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne. His dissertation takes up the themes of his dilettantish readings and quotidian experiences, supplements them and subjects them to a rigorous scholarly investigation.
