About
My thesis is currently titled: 'Policy, Practice & Built Form: The Architecture and Urbanism Of The Brooke Administration In Sarawak, 1849 - 1917'. I'm looking at the idea of hybridity in governments and colonial cultures and how they affect the design and implementation of buildings and infrastructure. I'm also interested in all the parties that were involved, and how they affected the processes.
My main focus is architectural history, but I'm also interested in Southeast Asian Studies, issues surrounding post-colonialism, culture and identity, urbanism in Southeast Asia, and construction & design in the tropics.
I am also a practicing architect who graduated from RMIT University in Melbourne with a Bachelor of Architecture, and am an ARBV Registered Architect. I have taught at the Architecture Program at RMIT University in design, history and technology, and have given lectures at other Victorian architecture schools on the history of Southeast Asian architecture.
