About
I am a geochemist with leanings towards palaeo-anthropology and archaeology.
My research involves the use of radiogenic and stable isotope geochemistry to investigate the age and palaeo-environmental significance of carbonate rocks, in particular cave deposits (speleothems).
I work predominantly on caves containing early human fossil remains employing the U-Pb and U-Th radiometric dating methods to provide robust chronologies of human evolution.
Current projects encompass the South African early hominin caves near Johannesburg, including the new Australopithecus sediba site Malapa, and the human occupation sites of Pinnacle Points on the southern South African coast.
